SANAA: Recent Work: The John Dinkeloo Memorial Lecture

Based in Tokyo, Kazuyo Sejima and Ryue Nishizawa produce work via three separate studios: his, hers and the collaborative SANAA Ltd., formed in 1995. Unconventional in structure, their practice reflects their unique approach to design, continually challenging the boundaries between the architect, the program, the inhabitants and the architecture itself. Though their work is often characterized as minimal or abstract, its discipline and economy of means operate in service of an intensely rich spatial and programmatic experience. This volume documents Sejima and Nishizawa's recent built and unbuilt projects, including their current proposal-in-progress for the Center for Glass at the the Toledo Museum of Art. Essay by Gretchen Wilkins. ©Amazon.co.uk
