The Laban is located in the east of London, south of the river, in the borough of Lewisham. I have never been to Lewisham before, and for me the place named Deptford was an intriguing void in the map of the city. I always imagined what it would be like because it is in a particularly critical spot of the map. In the underbelly of that great "U" described by the Thames as it flows by the Isle of Dogs, Greenwich reach, and neighbouring some tourist and historical attractions (Cutty Sark, Observatory, Greenwich Park, The National Maritime Museum, etc.) although remaining separated from these by Deptford Creek, the last leg of the Ravensbourne River where it pours into the Thames. >>> |
