In Munich, H&deM managed to combine a complex number of disparate programs and dissimilar context considerations within a large urban block of the city centre by the clever use of a spatial typology, the inner court -Höf. In the
case of the Fünf Höfe, it is a beautiful reworking that makes reference to the neighbouring palace. In the courtyards of the Laban like with the staircases, the reference takes a life of its own; it becomes an abstract device for the creation
